Don’t Let Missouri Legislators Cut Your Unemployment
The St. Louis Labor Tribune lets us know what is going on in Jefferson City with Missouri AFL-CIO monitors bill to cut unemployment benefits from 20 weeks to 8 weeks. Below is a sample letter you are invited to copy or edit and send to your Missouri State Representative and State Senator. You can find your State Representative contact information here and your State Senator by clicking here. Just enter your address and the site will direct you to your legislator.
Here is the letter I sent to my State Representative, feel free to copy or edit as you see fit.
Dear Representative Banderman,
It is my understanding that the Senate has begun consideration of a bill to reduce unemployment benefits from 20 weeks to 8 weeks depending on the unemployment rate.
Unemployment is a very individual circumstance depending not just on the macroeconomic condition but specific skills, industry trends, and management practices.
Please consider voting against this legislation should it appear before you.
Sincerely,
Darin Gilley
