Other Locals Want Their Dues Back – So Does 2250!

Looks like Local 2250 has some friends in our effort to get the extra-half hour of dues that was collected after the strike fund exceeded $850 million in April of this year. The extra dues was collected in May and June as well. It is true that delegates to the Constitutional Convention approved extending the collection of the extra half-hour by raising the threshold for them to stop being collected to $1.3 billion. It is also true that in April, May, and June members paid this extra dues in violation of the constitution. These facts were presented to the members of Local 2250 at the August membership meeting and members approved sending a letter to IUAW Secretary/Treasurer Margaret Mock asking for those dues to be refunded. A copy of this letter will be at pictured at the bottom of this post.

Jumping into this battle for constitutional justice is UAW Local 259 of Region 9A. The members, Executive Board, and President Brian Schneck have sent a similar letter to Secretary Mock requesting their members be treated fairly and issued refunds for dues collected in violation of the constitution. It was an honor to receive the letter pictured below with the note “Hey, 2250 inspired this!” Here’s hoping Secretary Mock receives the message and moves forward on correcting this violation of the constitution.

Thank You Local 259 for joining 2250 as we fight to make things right. It is an honor to fight with you!
