{"id":8896,"date":"2024-12-29T20:17:57","date_gmt":"2024-12-30T02:17:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/?p=8896"},"modified":"2024-12-29T20:17:57","modified_gmt":"2024-12-30T02:17:57","slug":"new-year-new-missouri-illinois-laws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/index.php\/2024\/12\/29\/new-year-new-missouri-illinois-laws\/","title":{"rendered":"New Year, New Missouri &amp; Illinois Laws"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hanks free driving, Minimum Wage, Paid Leave, and Expunging Criminal Records are all <a href=\"https:\/\/fox2now.com\/news\/missouri\/three-new-missouri-and-illinois-laws-to-know-for-2025\/\">new laws that will take effect on January 1, 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Starting on New Year\u2019s Day, drivers caught violating Missouri\u2019s hands-free phone law could face fines as opposed to only warnings.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s \u201cSiddens Bening Hands Free Law\u201d itself took effect in August 2023 to prohibit drivers from distractions like holding\u00a0a phone to text, call, or perform other tasks while behind the wheel.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><em>Minimum Wage and Paid Leave<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Starting on New Year\u2019s Day, the state\u2019s minimum wage is set to increase to\u00a0<strong><em>$13.75 per hour<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0for workers of \u201call private and non-exempt businesses,\u201d\u00a0according to the Missouri Department of Labor.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri voters approved Proposition A\u00a0in the November General Election to set the stage for minimum wage increases over the next two years.<\/p>\n<p>When Proposition A takes effect, it will also require businesses with 15 or more employees to provide one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/index.php\/2024\/12\/29\/new-year-new-missouri-illinois-laws\/pxl_20241229_203926758\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8897\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-8897\" src=\"http:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/PXL_20241229_203926758-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/PXL_20241229_203926758-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/PXL_20241229_203926758-768x578.jpg 768w, https:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/PXL_20241229_203926758-1024x771.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hanks free driving, Minimum Wage, Paid Leave, and Expunging Criminal Records are all new laws that will take effect on January 1, 2025.
