{"id":6041,"date":"2021-12-16T17:18:15","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T23:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/?p=6041"},"modified":"2021-12-16T17:19:20","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T23:19:20","slug":"national-labor-relations-board-fights-for-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uawlocal2250.net\/live\/index.php\/2021\/12\/16\/national-labor-relations-board-fights-for-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"National Labor Relations Board Fights For Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Labor Board is responsible for enforcing the National Labor Act which is designed to encourage collective bargaining.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the members of the Board are appointed by the President of the United States and sometimes these folks appointed are not pro-labor.\u00a0 Some of these folks have actually been pro-management attorneys and advocates.\u00a0 When the Board is staffed with pro-labor members the rights of workers are protected and workplace justice is possible.<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg looks at the board in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-12-14\/biden-labor-lawyer-jennifer-abruzzo-to-fully-use-nlrb-power-to-protect-workers\">Biden Labor Lawyer Will Use Her Whole Enforcement Arsenal<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a memo issued a few weeks after her July confirmation, she signaled interest in challenging a slew of precedents on issues including \u201cpermanent replacement\u201d of striking workers and\u00a0<a title=\"Google Urged the U.S. to Limit Protection for Activist Workers\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-01-24\/google-urged-the-u-s-to-limit-protection-for-activist-workers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">censorship<\/a>\u00a0of organizing via workplace email systems. Her office is prosecuting\u00a0<a title=\"Alphabet Inc.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/quote\/GOOGL:US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alphabet Inc.<\/a>\u2019s Google for\u00a0<a title=\"Google Says Staff Have No Right to Protest Its Choice of Clients\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-08-24\/google-says-staff-have-no-right-to-protest-its-choice-of-clients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">firing workers<\/a>\u00a0who organized against the company\u2019s work with U.S. immigration authorities and\u00a0<a title=\"Amazon.com Inc.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/quote\/AMZN:US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon.com Inc.<\/a>\u2019s Whole Foods Market for\u00a0<a title=\"U.S. Accuses Whole Foods of Banning Black Lives Matter Masks\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-12-04\/u-s-accuses-whole-foods-of-banning-black-lives-matter-masks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">banning Black Lives Matter masks<\/a>.
