The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/2019\/08\/no-midsize-ford-bronco-fighter-from-gm\/\">now-canceled GMC Jimmy program<\/a>\u00a0was intended to fill exactly this gap, but shifting priorities toward EV and autonomous vehicle investments ultimately sidelined the project, leaving a noticeable hole in GM\u2019s portfolio. There\u2019s also a product lifecycle opportunity at play. In international markets, GM has continued to offer the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/gm\/chevrolet\/trailblazer\/\">Chevy TrailBlazer<\/a>\u00a0SUV, but it\u2019s an aging product that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/2020\/09\/next-gen-chevy-trailblazer-suv-might-not-happen-exclusive\/\">may not see a next-generation replacement<\/a>. A new midsize, body-on-frame GM SUV could step in as a modern successor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>All told, whether this hypothetic body-on-frame midsize GM SUV wears a historic nameplate like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/gm\/chevrolet\/blazer\/\">Blazer<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gmauthority.com\/blog\/gm\/gmc\/jimmy\/\">Jimmy<\/a>\u00a0(or something new) doesn\u2019t really matter all that much.
