American Federation of Teachers Negotiates Record Pay Raises For St. Louis Public School Teachers
bnnbreaking.com shares the good news that the American Federation of Teachers Local 420 and St. Louis Public Schools have reached agreement on a contract that contains record pay raises. Enjoy Historic Pay Raise for St. Louis Public School Teachers: A 20 Year Milestone…
With the first year of the contract promising a 7% raise for teachers and an impressive 10% for special education teachers, the future looks bright for SLPS staff. The contract also includes provisions for other union-represented staff members, who are set to receive a minimum of a 10% raise over the contract’s duration.
This historic agreement not only represents a win for the teachers but also signals a positive shift towards acknowledging and rewarding the hard work of those at the heart of educating St. Louis’s youth.
Editors Note: Congratulations on a job well done to AFT Local 420 President Ray Cummings and his talented leadership and staff. That includes my good friend and mentor Ben Harman!

As this monumental contract takes effect, its implications extend far beyond the immediate financial benefits for the teachers. It stands as a testament to the power of collective bargaining and the essential role of educators in shaping the future. This agreement not only enhances the livelihoods of teachers but also sets a precedent for how districts can valuably invest in those who educate our next generation.
