Come Strike Time: You Have To Stand For Something or You’ll Fall for Anything
As the contract between the UAW and the Big 3 automakers is set to expire on Thursday September 14, 2023 it is time to stand up for a just economy and a fair contract. The companies keep coming up with excuses why they can’t agree to a fair contract despite having almost a quarter of a trillion dollars in the last ten years. Ten years is just about as long as it takes a new hire to reach full wages.
If you have had enough, if you’re fed up, then the Aaron Tippin song and video You’ve Got To Stand For Something could be a theme song!
Now daddy didn’t like trouble, but if it came along
Everyone that knew him knew which side that he’d be on
He never was a hero, or this county’s shinin’ light
But you could always find him standing up
For what he thought was right
He’d say, “you’ve got to stand for something
Or you’ll fall for anything
You’ve got to be your own man, not a puppet on a string
Never compromise what’s right and uphold your family name
You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”
