From the Office of the UAW Monitor;
Pursuant to the Run-Off Rules and the Monitor’s Candidate Forum Rules, and in an effort to promote the informed participation of the Union membership in the Run-Off Election, there will be a voluntary Candidate Forum for the office of International President featuring Presidential candidates Ray Curry and Shawn Fain.
The Candidate Forum for the office of International President will be held on:
-
January 12, 2023, from 7 p.m. ET – 8 p.m. ET.
-
Zoom: Webinar ID: 853 7062 2273 Passcode: 805234
-
YouTube: https://youtu.be/gI9MgykX0sQ
The Candidate Forum will be livestreamed and open for public viewing. The Zoom webinar log-in information and YouTube stream for each Candidate Forum is set forth above. All YouTube video and Zoom chat and/or comment functions will be disabled. The Candidate Forum will also be recorded and later posted here, so that all UAW members who wish to view the Candidate Forum may do so at their convenience. The Monitor will also provide the recording for posting on the UAW website.
As with the Candidate Forums during the 2022 Election, Steven Greenhouse, American labor and workplace journalist and writer, will serve as the independent moderator for the Candidate Forum. Mr. Greenhouse is not affiliated with the UAW or the Monitor team.
Any member who wishes to submit a question for the Moderator to consider including in the Candidate Forum may do so by emailing the question to the Monitor at UAWMonitor-Election@jenner.com with the subject line “Candidate Forum Question.” The email should specify:
-
Whether the question relates to a specific Candidate and, if so, which one.
-
Whether the individual submitting the question wishes to be identified with the question or remain anonymous.
-
Whether the individual submitting the question is a member in good standing of the UAW and, if so, their Local Union number. This information will be kept confidential by the Monitor team unless the individual indicates, per the above, that they wish to be identified in connection with their question.
Questions should be submitted no later than 24 hours before the Candidate Forum. The submission of a question does not guarantee that the question will be presented at the Candidate Forum and the Moderator retains discretion to include, exclude or otherwise edit submitted questions. The Moderator will have ultimate responsibility for determining what questions to pose during the Candidate Forum.
