2250 Members Stand For Voting Rights in Missouri

Your Vote, Your Voice at the State Capitol

On Tuesday January 28, 2025, UAW Local 2250 was honored to participate in Missouri Voting Rights Legislative Day. The event was designed to protect direct democracy and ensure voting is free, fair, and accessible to us all.

CAP Chairperson Don Looney along with active members Kim Davis, Kendel Douglas, Roland Bailey, Becky Miller, Fred Jamison and retired members Stephanie Johnson, Marva Richardson, and Darline Taylor represented the local at the state capitol in Jefferson City, MO.

Issues

These activists spoke with State Representatives and State Senators about legislation regarding the Initiative Petition and Ballot Initiation process – the same process used by citizens of Missouri to raise the minimum wage, defeat Right-to-Work for less, and bring Paid Leave to the Show-Me state.

Unemployment benefits, election procedures, and voting rights were also a focus of these conversations.

The committee will be making future visits to the capitol to address issues important to all working people and especially UAW members. Keep an eye out if you would like to participate and make sure your voice is heard.
