Local 2250 Claims Bowling Title!

UAW Local 2250 recently participated in the UAW Region 4 Bowling Tournament.  In addition to doing well in individual competition our teams did very well according to this report from Region 4 Representative Brad Schwanda…

Greetings:

Thank you to all who participated in the Second Annual Region 4 UAW Bowling Tournament. Everyone involved contributed to making this function successful.

This event has a historical background, as it was in 1948 that Region 4 held the first interracial bowling event in the UAW. It took the organizers months to find a bowling house in Chicago, Illinois that would allow people of different ethnicities to bowl together.

Reestablishing our bowling tournament without such hurdles reminds us that we have come a long way since 1948 – yet – we know that we have a long way to go.

This year we had five teams and twenty-four single bowlers. In accordance with the rules as set by the International Union, we are allowed one team to travel to represent Region 4 at the UAW All-Region International Bowling Championship Finals on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Allen Park, MI.

We are following USBC rules to pay out 100% of the prize money. The winners are listed below. Based upon participation, the top three teams and top six singles are awarded the following prizes.
